The Territorial Dialogues on Inequality, led by Re-imaginemos, constitute a journey and a dialogue agenda that will evolve into a collaborative research agenda, recommendations for public policy, and a network of intersectoral alliances to advance the construction of equity in Colombia..

At TREES, we support this project because it aligns with our objectives to contribute to expanding the understanding of inequalities, engaging in public discourse, and promoting dialogue spaces with decision-makers, policy creators, legislators, and civil society leaders. This is essential to influence regional debates and the design of public policies that build more just and equitable societies.

Among the objectives of the 32 Territorial Dialogues on Inequality is to raise awareness of this issue, which is fundamental for the country's future, and to advance the understanding of the most relevant expressions and dimensions that inequalities take on in different territoriesThis will provide input to inform priorities and solutions that should be addressed in an equity-building agenda with a territorial focus.

This first national conversation on inequality will consist, over the course of a year, of seven regional Dialogues held in person in Cali, Medellin, Barranquilla, Villavicencio, Florencia, Bucaramanga, and Bogotá. The methodology, designed and implemented by Re-imaginemos, aims to generate a dialogue of knowledge among people and forms of knowledge that traditionally do not interact. The purpose is to include the voices of people experiencing inequalities in different territories and to unite perspectives from the center and periphery of the country through conversations among academic experts, entrepreneurs, artists, local activists, and government actors.

The seven Regional Dialogues on inequality in the mentioned cities will serve to initiate conversations about the most relevant dimensions of inequality in each region of Colombia. In the midst of these regional events, virtual Territorial Dialogues will take place to "land" the discussion at the local context level. With the combination of in-person and virtual dialogues, the 32 Territorial Dialogues on Inequality will be completed, one per department.

After the dialogues, there will be a collection of transmedia content including video summaries for social networks, investigative columns, and audio columns, to be published in national and local newspapers, along with pieces created by local artists. The columns and artistic interventions will be compiled into a book and a short documentary that will analyze in greater depth the findings of this project and journey across the country.

Additionally, the dialogues will produce a report of policy recommendations for the new Ministry of Inequality and for local governments beginning their terms in 2024. The report of recommendations will indicate priorities and possible solutions to build equity with a territorial focus.

The Territorial Dialogues agenda will be a first step in incubating unlikely collaborations with multiple actors contributing to equity building in the country. This will be an opportunity to build bridges between these initiatives, incubate alliances, and develop joint projects that bring together voices, knowledge, and resources to achieve greater impact in the country.
